COST: Advance purchase price for the full-day workshop, including lunch, is $50.00 for adults and $30.00 for youth 18 and younger. The price at the door is $60.00 for adults and $35.00 for youth.

Alasdair Fraser, master Scottish Fiddler, who has inspired and encouraged countless aspiring and accomplished musicians, will hold a special one-day workshop for all string players (fiddle, viola, cello and bass) based on the fiddle music of Scotland and beyond. Woodwinds, guitars and keyboards are also welcome.

The goal is to explore playing traditional music in a group, with emphasis on arrangement ideas and the techniques that give traditional music its particular flavor. We will look at the elements of language and dance and how to put fiddle tunes together to form a medley or a larger piece of music. Teaching will be geared towards intermediate to advanced musicians but enthusiasts of all levels are welcome to attend. Beginners will be encouraged to participate at their current level of ability.

The Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with a one-hour break for lunch. Doors will open at 9:00 for registration and coffee.

Jam Session: Attendees are invited to stay after the workshop for a mighty jam session and a pass-the-hat pizza dinner. Guests welcome. Bring your own beverages.
