with a warmly convivial couple of days of music-making! People of all ages are invited to join master Scottish fiddler who has inspired and encouraged countless aspiring and accomplished musicians on both sides of the Atlantic, for a two day special event beginning Saturday, January 2, 2016 with an all-day workshop followed by an evening of ceilidh dancing and jamming and continuing Sunday morning with brunch and jam. . Explore playing music from the Celtic lands (and beyond!) in a large ensemble, with an emphasis on arrangement ideas and traditional flavors.
. Alasdair will teach tunes “by ear”. We'll look at elements of language and dance and how to create a medley of tunes to form a larger piece of music.
. For players of all ages on a wide range of instruments, including fiddles, cellos, guitars, bass, woodwinds, harp, keyboards, etc. Children should be accompanied by a supervising adult.
. Instruction is geared toward intermediate to advanced musicians, though enthusiasts of all levels are welcome.
. Doors will open at 9:30 am for registration and coffee/tea. We'll take a break for lunch (provided). Workshop concludes at 4:30, followed by a pass-the-hat pizza dinner and evening gathering.
