CELLO, GUITAR, FLUTE, WHISTLE ETC . . .

Kick off the New Year with a warmly convivial couple of days of music-making! People of all ages are invited to join master Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser, who has inspired and encouraged aspiring and accomplished musicians around the world, for a two day special event. An all-day workshop on Saturday, January 4, 2020 will be followed by an evening of ceilidh dancing and jamming. We gather again Sunday morning for a delicious brunch and jam session. JANUARY 4 WORKSHOP & CEILIDH DANCE PARTY - Explore playing music from the Celtic lands (and beyond!) in a large ensemble, with an emphasis on arrangement ideas and traditional flavors.
- Alasdair will teach tunes by ear. We'll look at elements of language and dance and how to create a medley of tunes to form a larger piece of music.
- For players of all ages on a wide range of instruments, including fiddles, cellos, guitars, bass, woodwinds, harp, keyboards, etc. Children should be accompanied by a supervising adult.
- Instruction is geared toward intermediate to advanced musicians, though enthusiasts of all levels are welcome.
- Doors will open at 9:30 am for registration and coffee/tea. We'll take a break for lunch (provided). Workshop concludes at 4:30, followed by a pizza dinner (approx 5:00 pm).  The Ceilidh Dance Party begins at 6:30.

The Saturday evening Ceilidh Dance Party is free to workshop participants.

Non-workshop participants (community members, family and friends) are welcome to attend; a sliding scale contribution of $7.50-$25, ($7.50 for students) is requested. We are also happy to receive contributions of hors d'oeuvres or dessert items for the snack table!
